The common thread is that the content you want is either defended, or specific to a location, or both.
Price and assortment monitoring
Retail pages are among the most aggressively defended on the web, because pricing data is commercially valuable and because they are hit constantly. Residential IPs pass the trust checks that stop datacenter addresses, and localised IPs let you see the price a real shopper in that market sees, including currency and any regional promotions.

Search result and SEO checks
Search results differ by location, and they differ again for a datacenter IP that the engine has classified as automation. Checking rankings from a local residential address gets you closer to what a real user in that market would see.

Ad verification
Ad campaigns are targeted by geography, device and placement. Verifying that a creative actually renders where and how it was bought requires viewing it from a representative local connection, not from your own network.

Market research and competitive intelligence
Assortment, availability, promotions and positioning across markets. Residential IPs let you sample a market as a local visitor rather than being served a generic or blocked view.

Travel fare and availability
Fares and availability are frequently determined by point of sale. A local IP is not a trick in this context; it is the only way to see the price that market is actually offered.

Detecting counterfeit listings, unauthorised resellers and price violations across marketplaces and regions. Much of this work is invisible unless seen from the buyer's location, which is why residential access is usually required.

What these have in common
Three properties recur across every case above:
- The destination evaluates the requester, not just the request.
- Location changes the answer, so local egress is part of the data, not a workaround.
- Volume is meaningful but not extreme, which is why residential pricing is tolerable relative to the value of the data.
