Documentation
Proxy learning center
Learn about proxies, the product, how things work and how-tos for the common tasks.
Getting Started
Create an account, sign in, and find your way around the dashboard.
- IntroductionWhat this documentation covers, how the six sections are organised, and how to read the field tables that describe each screen.
- Create Your AccountHow to sign up with an email address and password or with a Google account, what the password rules are, and what to expect after you submit.
- Log In and OutSigning in with an email address and password or with Google, where you land afterwards, and how to log out safely from the dashboard.
- Dashboard OverviewA tour of the dashboard: the product summary cards, the sidebar sections, the traffic chip in the top bar, and what Active versus Inactive means on a product.
Account and Security
Your profile, account password, and keeping the account secure.
- Account SettingsWhat each group on the Account Settings page does: Profile, Security, Preferences and Privacy, including the cookie consent controls.
- Change Your PasswordThe fields on the password change screen, the four rules a new password must satisfy, and what to do if the current password is rejected.
- Reset Your PasswordWhat to do when you cannot sign in: how to get back into your account, what to have ready for support, and the Google-account case.
- Account SecurityPractical account hygiene: protecting the email that identifies the account, handling proxy credentials, and what to do if you suspect a breach.
Billing and Plans
Invoices, payments, traffic, and how plans work.
- Billing OverviewThe invoices table explained column by column, what each status badge means, and why amounts are shown tax inclusive with tax broken out separately.
- Download an InvoiceHow to download an invoice as a PDF and how to open the hosted invoice page, plus what to do when an invoice is missing from the table.
- Buy TrafficHow to add traffic to a product: where the pricing lives, what a package and a subscription each mean, and why the prices shown can differ by account.
- Traffic and PlansHow traffic is consumed, what rollover means for unused traffic, where your current plan is shown, and how to read the usage numbers.
Proxies and Endpoints
The Endpoint Generator: every field, format, and export.
- Generating Proxy EndpointsEvery field in the Endpoint Generator explained: protocol, proxy username and password, targeting, quantity, the results table and the per-row actions.
- Proxy Formats and ExportsThe two proxy string formats the generator can produce, what each one looks like, and what the CSV and TXT exports contain.
- Geo-TargetingHow Country, Region and City targeting work in the generator, what each level costs you in pool size, and how to confirm the exit location you got.
- Sticky SessionsWhy the generator applies sticky sessions automatically, how the per-endpoint session id works, and when you would want a rotating address instead.
- Code SnippetsPutting a generated endpoint to work in cURL, JavaScript, Python, Go, Java, Ruby and PHP, including the tunnelling form the dashboard shows.
- The API and API TokensCreate API tokens, understand their product and pool scope, and use the versioned HTTP API to manage sub-users, generate endpoints and read usage.
- Using the MCP ServerPoint an MCP client at the LightningBytes server so an agent can manage sub-users, endpoints and usage with an API token.
Users and Access
Sub-users, service access, and traffic allocation.
- Sub-usersWhat a sub-user is, how to add one, what the seat counter means, and why every account starts with a system-managed default user.
- Traffic AllocationPooled versus Reserved allocation for a sub-user: how each behaves when traffic runs short, and which to choose for a given job.
- Reset a Sub-user PasswordHow to rotate a sub-user's proxy password, what stops working when you do, and the order to update every tool and script that uses it.
- Delete a Sub-userWhat deleting a sub-user removes, what happens to its credentials and its traffic allocation, and how to retire a sub-user cleanly.
Tools and Troubleshooting
The free tools, and fixes for the common problems.
- Proxy CheckerHow to test any proxy endpoint with the free checker, what each result means, and why the latency it reports matters more than the raw speed.
- IP LookupWhat the IP lookup tool reports for an address, and the common reasons its answer disagrees with what a website thinks about you.
- WebRTC Leak TestWhat a WebRTC leak is, why it silently defeats a proxy in the browser, how to read the result, and how to fix the cause.
- Proxy TroubleshootingAn ordered checklist for the common failures: authentication errors, a proxy that seems unused, refused requests, and results from the wrong location.
