Mobile Proxies for Sneaker and Ticket Sites
Drops and ticket releases are the most defended checkouts online. Here is why mobile IPs and low latency matter, and how far session persistence really goes.

Limited releases are a useful case study because they concentrate every defence mechanism into a few minutes: strict bot management, queue systems, account requirements and inventory that disappears in seconds. Whatever works there tends to work anywhere.
That intensity is also why expectations need calibrating. Proxies are necessary infrastructure, not a guarantee.
Why the defences are so heavy
Limited inventory plus resale value means enormous automated demand for a small number of units. Sites face millions of requests for thousands of items, so they invest heavily in distinguishing genuine buyers from automation.
The measures vary, but these recur:
- Bot management at the edge, which scores requests before they reach the application.
- Queue systems, which allocate positions and often require the client to hold a connection rather than poll.
- Account requirements, including verified, aged accounts with purchase history.
- Device and browser checks, which penalise clients that do not resemble real ones.
- Per-IP fairness limits, which reduce how many units one network can buy.
The last one is why serious operators use many identities rather than many parallel requests on one.
Why mobile IPs are commonly used
Two reasons.
Trust. Drop sites are among the most aggressive at classifying hosting and even consumer ISP ranges, because those are what automation historically used. Carrier IPs sit in the distribution the sites expect from genuine mobile shoppers.
Traffic profile. A large share of real drop traffic is mobile, so a mobile network identity fits the pattern the site models.

Latency: the reason datacenter IPs tempt people
Drop outcomes are time-sensitive. Latency is a real factor, and datacenter proxies are faster. That is why people try them.
The problem is that speed does not matter if the request is blocked, or if it is deprioritised in a queue. The relevant metric is latency conditional on success, which is the argument we make in Latency vs Success Rate. A mobile endpoint with modest latency that is accepted beats a fast one that is rejected.

Session persistence: how far it actually goes
This is where expectations matter most. A session can hold one IP across a multi-step flow, which is what stops a cart from being treated as belonging to a different visitor on the confirmation step.
What a session cannot do is survive the carrier reassigning an address for its own reasons, and it cannot bypass a queue that has already assigned you a poor position.
Practical approach:
- Hold the session for the whole flow, from product page to confirmation. Our notes on this are in Mobile Proxy Sticky Sessions.
- Verify the exit IP at the start of the flow rather than assuming it held.
- Have a fallback ready if the address changes mid-flow, rather than retrying blindly.
- Do not rotate mid-checkout. Rotating after the cart is built is one of the most common self-inflicted failures, a hazard described in Rotating Mobile IPs Without Losing the Session.
The parts proxies cannot fix
Be clear with yourself about this list, because it explains most disappointing results:
- Queue position is largely out of your control once assigned.
- Account standing matters, and aged accounts with purchase history are advantaged.
- Drop mechanics differ per site, and no proxy configuration changes a raffle into a race.
- Fairness limits cap purchases per identity by design.
Infrastructure gets you into the competition. It does not decide it.
Getting set up
Do not debut on a drop you care about. Rehearse on a less contested release or a restock, log the exit IP per session, and measure whether your endpoint holds across the full flow. The proxy checker confirms exit IP and added latency, and IP lookup verifies you are receiving carrier addresses.
