What people use Bing proxies for
Bing matters most in markets where it holds real share, which makes its regional results the commercially interesting ones. Those results follow the same rules as any engine: the query plus the address decides the page.
Bing is also notably strict about automated access, and a hosting address is refused faster than a consumer one.
- Track Bing positions for the markets where it has share.
- Compare Bing and Google results for the same query and region.
- Read result pages at a rate one address cannot sustain.
Why Bing answers differently from a hosting address
What makes it awkward
Bing's challenge appears on the first request from a hostile address, so a failed run usually tells you the network was wrong before it tells you anything about the query.
Where the location changes the answer
Country targeting is the useful level. Language settings should match it, or the result page belongs to a market you did not intend.
Country, region and city targeting are set per endpoint in the generator, and geo-targeting explains how narrow to go.
How to route Bing through a proxy
Three steps, and the same three on every target in this section, because the product works the same way each time.
- 1
Generate an endpoint
Open your Residential product, go to the Proxy tab, pick the protocol and sub-user, and set the country you need. Copy the endpoint in URL format.
- 2
Point Bing traffic at it
Pass the endpoint to whatever makes the request: a proxy flag, a client setting, or a proxy field in the tool. HTTP is accepted everywhere; SOCKS5 is there when a client insists on it.
- 3
Verify the exit before you trust the data
Check the endpoint, read the exit IP, and look up its country and ISP. Do this before a run, not after: a silent bypass and a working proxy look identical until you read the address behind your Bing request.
Generating endpoints is covered field by field in Generating Proxy Endpoints, and every format the dashboard can copy is in Proxy Formats and Exports.
