What people use Etsy proxies for
Etsy's catalogue is global but its search ranking, currency and shipping estimates are local. A seller's visibility in one market is not their visibility in another.
The site is comparatively open about public pages, and correspondingly sensitive to request volume from one address.
- Read search results and shop pages for a market.
- Track competitor shops and their listing changes.
- Compare a listing's price and shipping in two countries.
Why Etsy answers differently from a hosting address
What makes it awkward
Search result pages are paginated and personalisation bleeds in, so a single page is a sample rather than a ranking. Collect across several pages and a clean session.
Where the location changes the answer
Country targeting changes currency and shipping estimates along with results. City-level rarely adds anything here.
Country, region and city targeting are set per endpoint in the generator, and geo-targeting explains how narrow to go.
How to route Etsy through a proxy
Three steps, and the same three on every target in this section, because the product works the same way each time.
- 1
Generate an endpoint
Open your Residential product, go to the Proxy tab, pick the protocol and sub-user, and set the country you need. Copy the endpoint in URL format.
- 2
Point Etsy traffic at it
Pass the endpoint to whatever makes the request: a proxy flag, a client setting, or a proxy field in the tool. HTTP is accepted everywhere; SOCKS5 is there when a client insists on it.
- 3
Verify the exit before you trust the data
Check the endpoint, read the exit IP, and look up its country and ISP. Do this before a run, not after: a silent bypass and a working proxy look identical until you read the address behind your Etsy request.
Generating endpoints is covered field by field in Generating Proxy Endpoints, and every format the dashboard can copy is in Proxy Formats and Exports.
