What people use Expedia proxies for
Expedia prices by point of sale: flights, hotels and packages are quoted differently to a shopper in different countries, and some inventory is only offered in particular markets.
Because a single search returns a lot of priced options, the traffic cost of a comparison run is real, and the block arrives quickly on a hosted address.
- Compare fares and packages across two point-of-sale countries.
- Track a route's price over a booking window.
- Check whether an itinerary is offered in a specific market.
Why Expedia answers differently from a hosting address
What makes it awkward
Results are partly rendered and heavily cached. A cached response can be minutes old while looking current, so timestamp every read.
Where the location changes the answer
Country targeting is essential because it sets the point of sale. City targeting changes the departure airport rather than the market, so use it deliberately.
Country, region and city targeting are set per endpoint in the generator, and geo-targeting explains how narrow to go.
How to route Expedia through a proxy
Three steps, and the same three on every target in this section, because the product works the same way each time.
- 1
Generate an endpoint
Open your Residential product, go to the Proxy tab, pick the protocol and sub-user, and set the country you need. Copy the endpoint in URL format.
- 2
Point Expedia traffic at it
Pass the endpoint to whatever makes the request: a proxy flag, a client setting, or a proxy field in the tool. HTTP is accepted everywhere; SOCKS5 is there when a client insists on it.
- 3
Verify the exit before you trust the data
Check the endpoint, read the exit IP, and look up its country and ISP. Do this before a run, not after: a silent bypass and a working proxy look identical until you read the address behind your Expedia request.
Generating endpoints is covered field by field in Generating Proxy Endpoints, and every format the dashboard can copy is in Proxy Formats and Exports.
