What people use Zillow proxies for
Zillow's listings, price history and rental inventory are organised by geography, and its estimates shift with local comparable sales. Every useful question is therefore local.
The site rate-limits public pages firmly, so a metro-level collection run needs more than one address.
- Collect active listings and price history for a metro.
- Track rental inventory and asking rents over time.
- Compare listing volume across several ZIP codes.
Why Zillow answers differently from a hosting address
What makes it awkward
Listing detail is partly client-rendered and the estimate is a modelled figure rather than a fact. Record it as an estimate and keep the raw comparables.
Where the location changes the answer
US only. City targeting is the working level, and ZIP-level reads are what make a local analysis credible.
Country, region and city targeting are set per endpoint in the generator, and geo-targeting explains how narrow to go.
How to route Zillow through a proxy
Three steps, and the same three on every target in this section, because the product works the same way each time.
- 1
Generate an endpoint
Open your Residential product, go to the Proxy tab, pick the protocol and sub-user, and set the country you need. Copy the endpoint in URL format.
- 2
Point Zillow traffic at it
Pass the endpoint to whatever makes the request: a proxy flag, a client setting, or a proxy field in the tool. HTTP is accepted everywhere; SOCKS5 is there when a client insists on it.
- 3
Verify the exit before you trust the data
Check the endpoint, read the exit IP, and look up its country and ISP. Do this before a run, not after: a silent bypass and a working proxy look identical until you read the address behind your Zillow request.
Generating endpoints is covered field by field in Generating Proxy Endpoints, and every format the dashboard can copy is in Proxy Formats and Exports.
