Change Your Password
The fields on the password change screen, the four rules a new password must satisfy, and what to do if the current password is rejected.
Last updated
The password change screen is at /dashboard/account/password, reached from My Account, then the Account password row, then Change.
The fields
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Current password | The password you sign in with today |
| New password | The password you want to use from now on |
| Confirm new password | The same new password, typed again |
Selecting Confirm submits the change. The two new-password fields must match; the screen checks this before submitting.
Password rules
The same four rules as at sign-up.
| Rule | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Length | At least 8 characters |
| Lowercase | At least one lowercase letter |
| Uppercase | At least one uppercase letter |
| Digit | At least one number |
The screen checks these as you type and will not submit until all four pass.
After a successful change
Use the new password the next time you sign in. Other devices that are already signed in may be asked to sign in again, which is the point of changing a password you believe is compromised.
Important
Submitting the form does not change your password yet. The screen and its validation are in place, but the change is not applied to your account while the wiring is pending. To rotate your password in the meantime, contact support from the Contact Us item in the dashboard sidebar.
If the current password is rejected
- Check for a browser password manager filling the field. A stale saved password can overwrite what you type. Clear the field and type it manually.
- You signed up with Google. There is no password on the account, so there is nothing to change here. Use the Google button to sign in.
- You cannot remember the current password. See Reset Your Password.
